Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the current full-time opening as the Director of Athletics. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2010.
This position is charged with the comprehensive oversight and day-to-day operations of all athletics personnel and activities. The Director of Athletics will lead the department with integrity and vision and fully support the Catholic and Benedictine identity of the institution through mission-inspired athletics programs. Belmont Abbey seeks an established and experienced athletics administrator who will manage a dynamic staff of coaches and support staff; develop and manage an annual budget; maintain an active compliance program that supports institutional, conference, and NCAA bylaws and regulations; establish a successful fundraising program that supports the activities and mission of the athletics department; provide oversight for the comprehensive recruiting efforts of athletics programs; and establish a collegial and productive environment in athletics that supports “excellence and virtue” across campus.
The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment and experience in athletics administration and will articulate a vision for mission-inspired athletics programs that integrate with the Catholic and Benedictine traditions of the College. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the connection of the athletics program to the academic program in all facets, particularly in the aims of Belmont Abbey College to educate the whole person in mind, body, and spirit and to produce graduates that lead lives of integrity, succeed professionally, become responsible citizens, and are a blessing to themselves and to others.
A master’s degree and previous leadership in athletics is required; a doctoral degree and at least five years of collegiate athletics administrative leadership is preferred.
